Our goal is to maintain the highest level of health and well being for our patients and their families. We will achieve this by providing the best possible pediatric care in a warm and child-friendly environment; by forming a partnership with the parents of our patients that encourages communication; and by providing advice, guidance, and direction for both new and experienced parents.
Franklin Pediatrics is a general pediatric practice located in Whippany, New Jersey that cares for patients from birth through 21 years of age. Patients will have one pediatrician as their primary care provider for the family. We make every effort for a sick child to see their regular pediatrician; however, it may sometimes be necessary to see one of the other doctors. Communication between the doctors is an important part of how this practice operates.
Our doctors are on staff at Morristown Medical Center and the Goryeb Children's Hospital. We have relationships with many specialists, and consultations and referrals can be arranged as needed.
We are currently accepting new patients. Please call our office to check on participating insurance plans.
Good medical care is best achieved when communication between doctors and patients is optimal and we strive for this partnership with the families that we care for. Openness and honesty as well as mutual respect are part of this relationship. We will help educate you on normal child development, common behavior problems and common illnesses, and any illness that is relevant to your child. The aim of everyone at Franklin Pediatrics is to help you care for your children from birth through adolescence.
Franklin Pediatrics was originally founded by Dr. Bayard Coggeshall in 1945. Dr. Coggeshall was a well-known pediatrician in Morristown and the surrounding towns and one of the original pediatric staff doctors at Morristown Memorial Hospital. After WWII he opened his office in a large home on Franklin Street in Morristown where the practice remained for the next 40 years. During this time, Dr. Coggeshall cared for thousands of children and was well loved by all his patients, many of whom brought their own children and grandchildren to him before he retired in 1990.
In 1985, Dr. Mary Ann LoFrumento joined him in the practice which was then named Franklin Pediatrics (after the street it was located on). Dr. Lofrumento reorganized the practice and allowed for a smooth retirement in 1990 for Dr. Coggeshall. After Dr. Coggeshall retired Dr. Julie Ashton and Dr. Fern Gotfried joined the practice. In that year the practice moved to a professional office building on Hanover Avenue.
The practice reorganized and Drs. LoFrumento, Ashton and Gotfried became partners. The office expanded to accommodate the needs of the growing families who called Franklin Pediatrics their medical home. In 1996, Dr. Marisa Rosania joined the staff.
In 2002, Dr. LoFrumento decided to retire from private practice. She then founded Simply Parenting and is currently caring for newborns at Morristown Medical Center.
In September 2005, Franklin Pediatrics moved to our current location, a new building on South Jefferson Road in Whippany. In 2007, we welcomed Dr. Lauren Bregman to the practice. In April 2014, Franklin Pediatrics joined Primary Care Partners. Although there has been much change in medicine over the past thirty years, all the doctors, nurses and office staff who have worked at Franklin Pediatrics over the years have been committed to the same ideals. The legacy of Dr. Bayard Coggeshall and his caring and humanistic approach to patients is still a part of the practice today.
Dr. Ashton received her BA in Biology from Washington University in St. Louis and then went on to medical school and residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of NJ. She is Board Certified in General Pediatrics and is an Attending Physician at the Goryeb Children’s Hospital (Atlantic Health Systems) as well as a Clinical Assistant Professor at UMDNJ and the New Jersey Medical School.
Dr. Gotfried received her BA from Cornell University and then her MD from Rutgers Medical School. She did her residency in Pediatrics and then a Fellowship in Adolescent Medicine at the University of Rochester. She is Board Certified in both General Pediatrics as well as Adolescent Medicine. She is on the Attending Staff at the Goryeb Children’s Hospital (Atlantic Health Systems).
Dr. Rosania received her BS in Biology at Lafayette College in Pennsylvania and then her MD from New Jersey Medical School at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. She did her pediatric residency at Morristown Memorial Hospital. She is Board Certified in General Pediatrics, and is a member of the Alpha Omega Medical Honor Society. She is an Attending Physician at the Goryeb Children’s Hospital (Atlantic Health Systems).
